Basic Sciences

Research Center in Pure and Applied Mathematic, (CIMPA for its acronym in Spanish)

It develops scientific research in the area of Mathematics, in its theoretical and applied aspects, and in its incorporation into the scientific-technological processes of production and administration. Its services are oriented to training and advice to both public and private institutions.

Objectives

  • To carry out high level basic and applied research in all fields of Mathematics to provide information and training to the different sectors of Costa Rican society.

Main functions

  • To carry out high level basic and applied research in all fields of Mathematics.
  • To conduct the International Symposium on Mathematical Methods Applied to Sciences, SIMMAC, for its acronym in Spanish.
  • To conduct the International Symposium on Educational Mathematics, SIME, for its acronym in Spanish.
  • To carry out the Journal of Mathematics: Theory and Applications as a space of scientific dissemination.
  • To publish two volumes per year of the Journal of Mathematics: Theory and Applications.
  • To offer the external sector our knowledge and services in order to contribute positively to the solution of diverse national problems of public and private interest.
  • To strengthen joint research at the national and international levels through the participation of academic networks.
  • To encourage the development of projects and joint activities between the different areas of knowledge.
  • To promote the study of national problems with an interdisciplinary approach.

  • We offer to Costa Rican public and private sector, the human services in Mathematics for the development of advising and consulting.
