Laboratory of Biological Trials (LEBI, for its acronym in Spanish)

It promotes research of the possible mechanisms of action of chemical, biological, biotechnological substances for human and veterinarian consumption through biological testing. Its services are on the area of research and animal models. It also gives training through courses on the science of animals of experimentation, ethics, legal and animal welfare, among others.

Objectives

  • To develop and project activities in the three main areas related to the production and use of biomodels and alternative models of high quality with the aim of implementing lines of research of national and international interest in Biomedical Sciences. To contribute to the scientific task through a multidisciplinary work that involves teaching activities, research and community outreach.

Main functions

  • To project different lines of research and social action developed by LEBI at national and international level.
  • To develop basic and applied research for promoting a multidisciplinary job in teaching, research and community outreach.
  • To disseminate the knowledge generated in research activities through different scientific means.
  • To encourage the training of LEBI personnel to reinforce knowledge in different tasks.
  • To keep the production of different animal models and to improve its sanitary conditions and quality.
