Instituto de Investigaciones Farmacéuticas (INIFAR, for its acronym in Spanish) (Institute in Pharmaceutical Research)

It carries out multidisciplinary research in the pharmaceutical area and related fields looking for the scientific and technological advance.

It also performs pharmaceutical appraisals of medical substances and offers repetitive technical services, advice and biopharmaceutical and bioequivalent studies, dissolution profiles  that benefit state and private institutions

Objectives

  • To promote research, development, external link and social projection of the pharmaceutical sciences looking for public health and the scientific and technological advance of the country in coordination with related disciplines and support unit of the University of Costa Rica

Main functions

  • Research, social action and sale of services in information of medications, management of therapy, diagnosis, design, implementation and evaluation of the educative strategies of Pharmacy
  • Research and sale of services in bioequivalency and bioavailability
  • Research and sale of services in quality control of products of sanitary interest

  • Advice and training in processing, production and quality control of substances and products of sanitary interest of natural origin
  • Bio-equivalency and bio-availability studies
  • Quality control of products of sanitary interest

Non Remunerated

  • Revision of medication and pharma-therapeutic follow-up to patients
  • Making of material and informative resources about medications for the general public
  • Consultation to the general public about information on health
